Janice E. Roeters

Janice E. "Jan" Roeters - Passed from Life to More Life at her home in Petaluma with her family at her side on July 1, 2007. Devoted wife of James Roeters. Cherished mother of Justin and Jamie Roeters. Beloved sister of Robert Burkert, Thomas Burkert and Cindy Larson. Jan grew up in the Hudson Valley area of New York. She pursued a career in nursing, graduating from Rockland Community College with her RN license and later in life obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Health Sciences. Her years of dedication in the healthcare industry included employment at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in New York City, Cedars-Sinai Medical in Los Angeles and Santa Monica Hospital. Jan developed and implemented a home healthcare division for Nursing Services International located in Beverly Hills, CA. She and her family moved to Petaluma in the early 1990's where she ran her own scrap booking business. Jan returned to the healthcare profession and worked at Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa and Petaluma Valley Hospital. Her most recent 10+ year tenure at Petaluma Valley Hospital included positions of House Supervisor, Manager of the Transitional Care Unit and RN Case Manager. Jan was also involved in many various volunteer capacities with her church, First Presbyterian Church, as well as school and non-school related functions when her children were growing up. She enjoyed traveling, RV camping, reading and spending time with her family. No matter where life took her, Jan remained a caring, giving person striving to help others. Jan had a love of life and she showed it in all that she did. The family extends many loving "Thank Yous""" to the dedicated caregivers and staff at Petaluma Valley Hospital as well as those of Petaluma Hospice. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on July 21st at 1:00p.m. at the Petaluma Community Center at Lucchesi Park. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran Street, Petaluma, CA 94952 or to the American Cancer Society, 1451 Guerneville Road, Suite 220, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
