Beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jean Christina Herrguth passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 15 surrounded by her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A child of Scottish immigrants, Samuel and Maude Kirkpatrick, Jean was born on August 19, 1929 in San Francisco, CA, where as a young girl she loved to dance and performed the Highland Fling and other traditional Scottish sword dances. She attended George Washington High School and after graduation worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance. It was in San Francisco where she met Jack, the love of her life. They married on August 6, 1950.
In 1960 they moved up north to Santa Rosa with three young kids in tow and soon had two more. Together they raised a family and enjoyed over 65 years of married bliss. Their love was nothing if not prolific. In addition to their 5 kids, Jean was a loving grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 13.
Jean enjoyed quilting, knitting, movies, reading, and especially chocolate. She enjoyed traveling and entertaining family and friends. She was a constant champion of her family, fiercely loyal and forever loving. She also never went a day without her morning tea.
She is survived by her loving husband Jack Herrguth of Santa Rosa; beloved children Kenneth Herrguth (Jerri), Lori Gamber (Tom) and Kim Herrguth Byrn of Santa Rosa, John Herrguth (Nicole) of Saint Helena, and Jack Herrguth, Jr (Jennifer) of Los Angeles, sister Dona Santo of Foster City, 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Joesefa Tiko, who cared for and looked after Jean and her husband Jack for the last several years, as well as Jennifer Maida, Jean's granddaughter who also cared for and provided loving support for Jean the past six months.
Jean loved greatly and was greatly loved. We will miss her always.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 1pm at the Krug Event Center at the Best Western Dry Creek Inn, 198 Dry Creek Road, Healdsburg, CA, 95448. If desired, donations may be made in her memory to the California Scottish Rite Foundation at www.casr-foundation.org
