Eugenia (Jennie) Augusta Fadelli Calegari completed her journey
with us on her birthday, October 31, 2013 at the age of 94 in Vallejo,
California.
Jennie, as she was better known, was born on October 31, 1919 to
Angelo and Luisa Fadelli in Petaluma, California. Her parents were
immigrants from Friuli-Venezia, Italy. She was the third of five
children - sisters Angie Fadelli Ricci and Yolanda Fadelli Ghilotti and
brothers Frank Fadelli and Ernie Fadelli preceded Jennie in departing
this life.
She is survived by her only child, Ronald Calegari; brother-in-law, Adolph Calegari;
nephews Tim Calegari, Don Calegari, John Calegari, Frank Fadelli, Richard Ghilotti,
Paul Fadelli and John Fadelli; nieces Arleen Calegari, Tammie Garrigan, Diane Ongaro,
Linda Ghilotti, Debbie Broom and Jeanne Fadelli. She was grandmother to Kirsten
Calegari MacPhee, Scott Small, Damon Calegari and Michael Small and a cherished
great-grandmother to Laura, Andrew and Aislinn Small.
Jennie remained in the San Francisco Bay area her entire life, having residences in
Petaluma, Hayward and Napa, California. Her life centered around "famiglia", friends
and food but fashion was her passion. She started her career as a dress shop
salesperson at Olga's and finished her career as a buyer for Modern Eve. She was
known for her flair with creating ensembles - she wore her jewelry, scarves and other
accessories well into her nineties. In the latter twenty years of her life she volunteered
at Kaiser Medical Center, Petaluma where she made a whole new set of friends.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty Street,
Petaluma on Saturday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that donations
be made to Sutter Care at Home, 4071 Port Chicago Highway, Suite 120, Concord, CA
94520 or the charity of your choice.
