After graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1944, Jerry volunteered for Naval Service while still in high school. A WWII vet, he was aboard Landing Ship Medium (LSM) 370 halfway across the Pacific when the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima brought an expectantly quick end to the war. A true patriot, Jerry served in the Coast Guard Reserve for a number of years afterwards.
Jerry graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1950. He was employed by the California Department of Transportation where he was with the Bridge and Highway Division for over thirty years.
A stalwart Roman Catholic, Jerry was a member of St. Rose Parish. He was also a Knight of Columbus, Elks Brother, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and John Birch Society member. He was a dedicated volunteer to all the organizations in which he was a member.
Jerry is survived by his two children Brigid Kelley Kucz and Kevin Kelley, and two beautiful granddaughters, Corinne and Colette Kelley. Preceding him were his parents, Ralph John Kelley, Alma Helena Schalich Kelley, and his sister Lucille Ferne' Kelley along with numerous cousins.
Private graveside services for the family were held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa, CA The family prefer memorials be made to your favorite charity.
