Joan Bihn Nielsen

Passed away at home in Petaluma,CA, May 18, 2018, loving mother of Jeff Nielsen (Julie) of Petaluma, Tim Nielsen of Petaluma and Wendy Grado (Tony) of Santa Rosa. Cherished grandmother of Jess, Sonny, Wade and Hayes Nielsen. Great grandmother of Trayce Nielsen.  She was the daughter of the late Cyril J. Bihn and Julia Florence Bihn, step daughter of the late Bob Matti and the former wife of the late Harry Nielsen.

Joan was born in Petaluma, a member of the pioneer Bihn and Thien families, and was a graduate of Petaluma High School. She worked for 29 years as a secretary at Liberty School and enjoyed walking, camping and gardening.

At her request, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family prefer memorials be made to the Liberty School Foundation or to Hospice of Petaluma.
