Joan Scott - We are deeply saddened and grieving the loss of the heart, soul and light of our family, Joan Elaine Scott. Joan gently passed into the next life on Monday, October 8, 2012, at home, with her immediate family close by.
Joan was born on March 6, 1935 to Clifford and Rose Hinrichsen at Petaluma General Hospital.
Educated in Petaluma she graduated from Petaluma High School and, on June 6, 1954 Joan married the love of her life, Basil Leon Scott. On the southwest corner of Joanâ??s Grandfatherâ??s farm on Eastman Lane, Joan and Basil built their home where they shared an active, full life for 58 wonderful years. During this time they raised their four beautiful daughters, the Scott Girls. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and so much more, she was also a partner with Scott in Scottâ??s Plumbing for the past 48 years.
Until they meet again, Joan leaves her beloved husband Scott, her daughters Cindy Dray, Susan Aguilar, Judy Fornaciari (and husband Joseph), Valerie Baker (and husband Brian). Her treasured Grandchildren, Damion, Andrea, Joey, Kathleen, Philip, Kevin, Scott and Kyle. Great Grandchildren Addison, Joelle, and Mackenzie. Her sister Gladys Gallo and many other dear family members, friends and students. Preceded in death by her parents and Great Grandchild Sadie.
A private family graveside service was held on October 12th. A celebration of Joan's life will be held at the Elk's Lodge in Petaluma on October 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to your favorite charity or to Hospice of Petaluma.
The glow and light in the heart of our home has dimmed ~ but will forever shine in the universe.
A gifted artist with an amazing natural talent she had many successful accomplishments. She was a porcelain artist and teacher, seamstress, cake decorator, gourmet cook, floral arranger and gardener. Her abundant vegetable and beautiful flower gardens gave pleasure to so many and filled all our lives with so much joy.
As a 4th generation Petaluman, Joanâ??s descendants have now extended into a 7th generation. Her family was her life. With all of her family living close by she was able to enjoy each and every one of them all of the time. Joan had a gift for making holidays such special memories and created many wonderful family traditions.
