Joanne Elwell

Joanne Elwell, 81, left us on January 13, 2015, with her family by her side. Joanne was born March 28, 1933 in Minnesota to the late Bennie and Gudrun Geving. Their family moved to Petaluma in 1947 were Joanne then lived in a 3 block radius for the rest of her years. She was best known as the towns waitress/carhop for more than 47 years and was always deeply involved and loved her community. Joanne was the loving wife to the late Sidney Elwell. Survived by her sister, Georgjane Bernard & brother in law Dean Marty. Loving sister to the late Milton Lund, Joyce Rice and Leroy Geving. Mother to Belinda Elwell & son in law, Toby Fernandez and youngest daughter Shelly Chappell. Grandmother to Jerrod & Kim Elwell, Craig & Christina Elwell, Weston Elwell, Shelane & David Steady, Jennifer & Elvis Zarco, Michael Chappell, Tanner Fernandez and Taylor Fernandez. Great Grandmother "GG" to Lauren Elwell, Morgan Elwell, Jeremy Elwell, Amber Elwell, Phoenix Elwell, Orion Elwell, Jacob Steady, Joshua Steady, Shylah Steady, Mario Zarco, Mateo Zarco and Mason Chappell. Joanne is also survived by many other loved ones. Celebration of life to be held at the Petaluma VFW Banquet Hall, 1094 Petaluma Blvd South, Petaluma, on January 22nd at 12pm for all family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made on Joanne's behalf to the Disabled American Veterans "DAV".
