Joe McCollum - McCOLLUM, JOE- Entered into rest in Santa Rosa, CA on February 23, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. Dearly beloved fifty-eight year husband of the late Natalie McCollum. Loving father of Gregory J. (Sandy) McCollum of Santa Rosa, Mark J. McCollum of Santa Rosa and Marian I. (Darin E.) Stoner of Grants Pass, OR. Adored grandfather of Tyson McCollum, Crystal Masters, Tara McCollum, Marissa McCollum, Mia Masters, Ryan Provost and Katie Provost. Cherished great grandfather of Tamryn Masters, Isabella Masters, Natalia McCollum and Susy Flores. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A native of Chelsea, OK, where he was born along Route 66, he is 89 years of age. Joe is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Bernice L. Plunkett, Buelah B. Herre, Josephine F. Ward, Lois Evelyn Saxton and Howard McCollum. Joe is a veteran of WWII, having joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, where he met his beloved wife. A Son of the American Revolution, Joe is a descendent of Nicholas Harper of Harper"s Ferry. As an avid HAM radio operator, he provided communication links between overseas military personnel and their families prior to the advent of Internet and Cellular communications. Joe had a lifelong love of tennis and could be found on the courts any given sunny day. Joe and his late wife traveled the world and walked the Great Wall of China. He was a proud member of the Engineer"s and Scientist Union of California (AFLCIO), La Canteria Tennis Club, Konocti Tennis Club and a parishioner of the Cathedral of St., Eugene"s in Santa Rosa.
