John (Jack) Joseph Archbold - At the age of 91 with his wife of 63 years by his side, Jack Archbold died peacefully at the home of his children. Beloved husband to Beverly, he is survived by his sons John, Bill and Jim, their wives Jeannie, Karen and Sally and grandchildren Jared, Molly, Erik, Lisa, Katie and Jack. His family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the angels of the Petaluma Hospice who helped make his passing comfortable.
A celebration of Jackâ??s life will be held on Monday, June 15th @ 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Petaluma. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran, Petaluma, CA 94952. Directors: PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma.
Born in San Francisco in 1918, raised in Berkeley where he attended the University of California and starred on the varsity basketball team and graduated in 1940. During WWII he was a Chief Engineer on a Merchant Marine Ship in the Pacific Theatre. While on leave, he met his beautiful wife Beverly and after 2 weeks of courting they were engaged and were married one year later when the war was over. While working for the American Bureau of Shipping they lived in Palermo Sicily for 3 years. In 1952 they moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area and settled in Burlingame, CA. In 1954, Jack started his own Insurance Agency which is still being operated by his youngest son Jim. Jack retired in 1985 and moved with Bev to the Russian River and from there they took many trips around the country in their motor home. In 1990 they moved to a retirement community in sunny San Diego, playing golf together and enjoying the ocean.
