John P. Castagnola - On January 15, 2011 John passed away peacefully at home with his devoted wife Carol Castagnola by his side. A private family entombment will be held at the Italian Cemetery in Colma. Friends and family are invited to attend a "Celebration of His Life""" on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Northwood Golf Course, 19400 Highway 116, Monte Rio, CA. "" In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salesian Boys and Girls Club, 680 Filbert St., San Francisco, CA 94133. John was born and raised in San Francisco, attending St. Peter and Paul's, St. Ignatius, and USF. During WWII, he entered the US Army and served in the Pacific Theater, attaining the rank of lieutenant. For 45 years, John owned and operated Castagnola Florist, having 4 shops in the San Francisco area. A member of the Monte Rio Chamber of Commerce, the San Francisco Salesian Society, Saint Peter and Paul's Church, as well as, past President and current member of the Board of the Italian Cemetery, in Colma.
