John J. Coletti - COLETTI, JOHN J." Died of natural causes in Santa Rosa, CA on September 9, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Anna Cavellini Coletti. Adored father of Edward (Joyce) Coletti of Santa Rosa and Chiara Coletti of New York City, NY. Cherished grandfather of Dori Wolf of Hillsdale, MI, Todd Coletti of Windsor, CA, Kristin Gilbert of Vancouver, WA, Elisabetta Brazzini-Coletti of Brooklyn, NY, John Coletti of Brooklyn, NY, Lucia Brawley of Los Angeles, CA and Kathleen Coletti of Oakland, CA. Loving brother of Mario Coletti of Palm Desert, CA. A native of Brooklyn, NY, age 95 years. John is preceded in death by his four siblings; Alice, Peter, Thomas and Armando and by his beloved parents; the late Antonio and Amalia Coletti. Following a lengthy childhood hospitalization for severe post surgical osteomyelitis, John characteristically never let that stop him from eventually becoming a championship golfer (Penn State Team Captain), wrestler, hockey player, and eventually a New York City Fireman who, in 1945 hauled hose up to the top of the Empire State Building which had been struck by an airplane. After twenty years with the NYFD, John retired at a young age and went on to pursue his training becoming a Senior Architectural Examiner with the Federal Housing Administration in New York, Miami and Sacramento. Following retirement, he and his beloved wife Anne (deceased February 26, 2008) moved to Santa Rosa, CA. John will be well remembered as a fabulous Italian cook with specialties including his Eggplant Parmagiana, Spareribs, Baked Ziti, Lasagna and virtually anything else Italian. John loved to tell elaborate funny jokes, and virtually everybody who spent time around him roared with laughter at both the Long Island Duck and Blowing-Out-The-Candle stories. John helped anyone who needed help. He was his family"s beacon and leaves his guiding light as his legacy.
