John Hicks

John Hicks passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.  John was born on October 10, 1949, in Glen Ellen, California to parents John and Vivian Hicks. He enjoyed the entirety of his life in Sonoma County with a small stint in Bakersfield California. John was a rambunctious blond haired little boy. He spent his youth in the small town of Glen Ellen where his passion for cars was born while working on cars with his father, a race car driver. After high school John entered the Army Reserves, serving for 4 years. He married in 1969 and raised three children. His passion for cars continued and he shared this joy with all three of his kids. If you were looking for John, he was always tinkering with his latest set of wheels. He loved his work as a General Contractor and was honored to hand you his business card with that bright red logo stating “John Hicks Enterprises”. John not only was a collector of classic cars, he was also a passionate Harley rider, country western dancer, proud veteran, and loving family man. He was not a man of many words, but he was always there for his family. He was kind, happy, and always welcoming. John’s spirit has left this world to ride the open road with the angels. He is survived by his son Dan Hicks, wife, Tina and their 3 children Tyler, Maddy, and Olivia; daughter Gina Unciano, husband, Rolando and their 3 children, Devin, Ethan, and Emily; son Ryan Hicks, wife, Cheri and their 2 children Ashton and Chloe; and his brother Jim Hicks, wife Helen. He is proceeded in death by his parents John and Vivian Hicks, and his sister Patty Swift. A memorial service will be held November 11th at Lafferty & Smith from 10am to 12:30pm located at 4321 Sonoma Hwy, Santa Rosa, CA. A Celebration of Life with family and friends following.
