John Bernard Isola

June 11, 1931 — January 1, 2022

John Bernard Isola, 90, died at home on January 1st, surrounded by his family.  John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lorraine Mary Isola. He is also preceded in death by his Father John G Isola, Mother WInifred Isola, as well as his brothers Charles Isola, and his sister in law, Liliana Isola.

John was born in Jersey City and raised in the Bronx, NY. He grew up with his older brother Charlie playing sports, going to church and running amok in the streets. He joined the Army at 17 and traveled to Germany and Austria during peacetime, where he continued to play baseball and basketball.   He returned to New York in 1951, honorably discharged, and eager to start a career.  He went to college, tried working for the union doing electrical work and ended up being a suit salesman selling to the wealthy and elite.  He later moved to New Hampshire and worked as a security guard with his brother at a resort where he met his wife, Lorraine. John was married to Lorraine on February 12, 1955 and was subsequently married for 48 years.  They soon started a family and moved to San Francisco.  He worked for Sears Roebuck for 30 years.  He raised 6 kids in Pacifica until he bought his first new home in Petaluma, CA in 1971 where he remained until his death. Both John and Lorraine were active parishioners at St. James Church for over 30 years, led prayer groups and was passionate about preserving life and dedicated his ministry to the prolife movement.  After Lorraine's death in 2003, he stayed in his home in Petaluma which he shared with his youngest son Matt, his wife Jennifer and their 4 children.  John had 6 children, Mary Leacock, John Isola, Charles Isola (Angela), Elizabeth Ortelle (late Michael Ortelle), Christopher Isola and Matthew Isola (Jennifer). John was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

John was a man of God who loved his family immensely and prayed every day for each and every one of them. John’s faith was manifested in his reverence to God our Father in Heaven.  He would consistently share about God and his word and how God changed his life and how we ought to honor God with our own lives.

Luke 17:1-4, “ And He said to his disciples, “Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one thorough whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.”

The family prefer memorials be made to Hospice of Petaluma or Sonoma County Pro Life.
