John Diedrich "Rick" Burmester

JOHN DIEDRICH "RICK" BURMESTER died May 2, 2017 after a year-long battle with cancer.  Born in Petaluma, October 22, 1950 to parents Alice and Ernie Burmester.  Survived by his former wife and best friend, Linda Martin; step-son, Matt Shirk; uncle, Bob Burmester; sister, Sharon Dado (John); nephews, John Dado (Elizabeth) and Craig Dado (Linda); grandnieces and nephews, Teke Dado, Remi Dado, Gage Dado, Isabel Enriquez, Charlie Dado, and Sonya Dado; cousins, Ron Riebli (Carol), Nancy Lande (Ross), Pauly Uhr, Tom Riebli (Jody), Jill Harmon (John), and Susan Schneider (Bill).

Rick graduated from Petaluma High School and his first job was at Books Incorporated in Coddingtown, which fostered his love of books and reading.  He worked at Corrick’s in Santa Rosa for 37 years and became good friends with owners, Keven and Jeri Brown.

In 1979, he and his partners founded and later sold La Crema Vinera Winery.

The Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma.  Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
