Johna Ann (Hedden) Lounibos

Johna passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, in her home surrounded by family.

A native of San Francisco, Johna was born May 17, 1943. She attended Star of the Sea elementary and high school. On May 29, 1965, she married Leroy Lounibos, Jr. and moved to Petaluma, California to raise their eight children. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Dominican College in history and successfully completed the UC Master Gardener Program.

Those who have had the privilege of knowing Johna will remember knowing a person of indomitable spirit, tenacious creativity, ferocious loyalty, and a calm reassuring smile that seemed to make everything possible.

Johna was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Hedden and survived by her siblings John Hedden and Thersea Lockwood, neé Hedden.

She is survived by her best friend and partner for over 60 years, Leroy Lounibos, Jr.; her eight children, their partners, and her 11 grandchildren Patricia Lounibos; Peter Lounibos, his wife, Karla Lounibos-Hartard, and their children Amaya Lounibos-Hartard and Nicolas Lounibos; Jill Lounibos; Matthew Lounibos, his wife, Jennifer Lounibos, and their children Nora Lounibos and Forrest Lounibos; Mollie Lounibos, her husband Chris Martinelli, and their children Jordan Martnelli and Alice Martinelli; Jennie Lounibos and her partner, Matthew McDevitt; Maggie Peña and her children Tito Peña and Angelo Peña; Patrick Lounibos, his wife, Jennifer Lounbos, and their children Annie Lounibos, Lucy Lounibos, and Django Lounibos.

Her immediate family will be gathering privately to celebrate and remember her life.
