Johnie "Jj" Aron Jackson

Rohnert Park

Jackson, the longtime sports editor of the Petaluma Argus-Courier and a widely beloved figure in the city, died Friday at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, four days after suffering a heart attack in his Rohnert Park home. He has bee associated with various newspapers over the years and best known for his association with the local high school sports in Petaluma. A native of Santa Rosa, CA, he was 77 years of age.

He is survived by his siblings, Calvin Jackson (Jane) of Warsaw, Indiana and Virginia Butler (Perry) of Claremore, OK. Beloved uncle of Donald Shields, Roger Shields, Emily Rummle, Philip Jackson, Stuart Jackson, Heather Butler and Michael Butler.  Also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and a host of friends in the Petaluma area.

There will be a memorial gathering on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crematory, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA.  Private inurnment will be at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.
