Jon Mendel Pate

On Tuesday, January 24th, 2023, Jon Pate of Petaluma, CA passed away at the age of 80. Jon was born on November 8, 1942, in West Point, Nebraska to Harry and Eleanor Pate. At the age of 18 years, Jon enlisted in the United States Navy and actively served in support and defense of his country for 18 years. In 1971 he received the Good Conduct award in recognition of faithful, zealous, and obedient naval service. He had 31 years cumulative years’ experience in US Navy electronics and logistics on ship and shore. On September 25, 1967, he married Kazuko Yoshimine, to which they would spend 38 wonderful years together. Jon was a huge fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and cheered them on, win or lose. Jon had a great love for computers and would often bring the older machines back to life. Jon loved his family and traveled cross country to visit family and friends. Jon was preceded in death by his wife Kazuko, brother Richard, brother Harry, brother Bob, Father Harry and Mother Eleanor. He is survived by his sister-in-law Barb Pate, niece Shelly (Steve) Swanson, great nephew Philip (Nicole) Loseke and friend Kindra (Kevin) Kilgore. He was a Life Member of the Fleet Reserve Association, a Charter Member of the Lions Club of Peninsula, and a Century Club Member of the Elks Lodge No. 901 in Petaluma, CA. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
