Joseph S. Carroll

JOSEPH S. CARROLL: Born November 30, 1961 in Patterson, NJ. Died, November 30, 2015 in Petaluma, CA. At his passing, Joe was surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Doreen and his three children, Cullen, Shannon, and Michael, his loving mother Elizabeth (Betty), his sister Elizabeth (Liz), his brothers Kelly, Patrick and Matthew J. McNaughton, their wives Maureen, Marilyn, and Dawn, and numerous adoring nieces and nephews. He was also blessed to have a large group of devoted friends, both from his time living in New Jersey and also California. Joe was an extremely devoted and loving man who delighted in his children's notable academic, social, and athletic successes. Joe loved coaching little league baseball and attending his children's year-round sporting events as the family became a part of the makeup of the Petaluma community. He was an ardent supporter at St. Vincent de Paul High School sporting events and an active volunteer in the school's community before, during, and after his children's involvement. He served honorably with the San Francisco Police Department for 30 years, primarily working as an Inspector in the department's Juvenile division working to protect children alongside fellow officers who would become lifelong friends. Joe gave no higher priority in his life than to his duties as husband and father. In recent years, despite his illness, he was delighted to attend the Notre Dame vs Stanford football game in South Bend, Indiana to watch his son Cullen, coach from the Stanford sideline, to visit his daughter Shannon, during her academic year in Italy, and to visit his youngest son Michael, for a Father/Son College weekend in Oregon. To those lucky enough to have known him, their lives were enriched and they will treasure his memory for the rest of their lives. Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday (today), December 2, 2015 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma followed by the Vigil Service at 6:00 pm at St. Vincent's Church, Petaluma. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to The Devin Chiappari Memorial Scholarship Fund, St. Vincent de Paul High School, 849 Keokuk St. Petaluma, CA 94952.
