JOSEPH H. "JOEY" MENDOZA, JR., passed away peacefully July 23, 2015 surrounded by family and friends. A member of a pioneering Point Reyes ranching family, he was born December 30, 1943 to Joe Sr. and Doris "Scotty" Mendoza.
Joey was raised on the family dairy farm where he attended the one room school house located on the ranch. A graduate of Tomales High School in 1961, he went on to finish his education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Joey was very active in the dairy community, serving on numerous boards and committees. He loved his family and friends and never missed a chance to attend a social gathering or enjoy a hunt with his deer club. An avid sports fan, he kept up on the Giants, 49ers and his beloved Tomales Braves.
Joey is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda (Moretti) Mendoza; daughter, Jolynn (Robert) McClelland; son, Jarrod (Kayla) Mendoza; grandchildren Collin and Luke McClelland and Layla Mendoza. Loving brother to Jim (Luci) Mendoza and the late Sharon Mendoza Doughty. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma. Donations may be made to Tomales High School Boosters Club or the Tomales Friends of Ag. In honor of Joey, the family suggests wearing black cowboy hats and/or Tomales Braves clothing.
