Josephine S. Sanchez

Josephine S. Sanchez - Passed away on January 16, 2012 in Santa Rosa. Devoted wife of Ysidor Sanchez of Santa Rosa. Cherished mother of Martha Gooch (Donn) of San Jose, Franci Hicks of AZ, Richard Sanchez of AK, Thomas Sanchez (Judy) of San Jose, Stephanie Gearheard (Doug) of TX, and Laura Adams (Craig) of Roseville. Beloved grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of three. Loving sister of the late Carmela De Los Santos (Henry). Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Josephine was born and reared in Mercedes, TX, but graduated high school in Corpus Christi. It was there, in July 1944, when she worked at the Catholic USO Club, along with her sister, that she met her future husband, Ysidor, a naval cadet at the time. They married on September 2, 1946 in Corpus Christi and have enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Upon moving to San Lorenzo, Josephine was active in church activities, her children"s school activities, as well as dancing. She also was involved in getting her daughters to enjoy dance. When her husband"s job moved the family to Santa Rosa, she became active in the Newcomer"s Club and the Welcome Wagon. Later in life, Josephine graduated from SRJC and received an Associate"s Degree in Literature. Above all, her children were her career.
