Joy F. Gee

November 19, 1946 — February 1, 2014

JOY F. GEE passed away on February 1, 2014 in Petaluma. Devoted and loving wife of Edward Gee of Penngrove. Cherished and beloved mother of Kirstin Gee (Jose Perez) of Santa Rosa and Gavin Gee of Penngrove. Beloved sister of Ronald Kratochvil of San Bruno. Loving aunt of Kristina Kratochvil and Ronald Kratochvil, Jr. both of San Bruno. Age: 67 years. A Member of: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Rohnert Park and the Secular Carmelites. Joy was born in San Francisco. Growing up, she and her family resided there as well as in Daly City, where she graduated from Jefferson High School. She proudly graduated from SF State, having received her BS in nursing. She began her 31year career at Children's Hospital in San Francisco, and proceeded to work throughout the Bay area, finally retiring from Kaiser in Santa Rosa. On September 22, 1973, she married the love of her life, Ed, and together they enjoyed 40 years of marriage. In her spare time, she devoted herself to "working for God". This included teaching CCD, altar care, performing as a Eucharistic minister, and becoming a secular Carmelite. These are just a few of her devotions to her Catholic faith and community. Joy also loved opening her home for parties and entertainment. She lovingly welcomed everyone at any time, and considered it a personal mission in life to make sure no one left her home hungry. Joy loved creating a beautiful home, and she and Ed spent much time together creating a beautiful and inviting home. They also loved to travel and were able to go many places in their retirement, enjoying their time together and with friends. Above all, Joy loved her family. She cherished her children, Kirstin and Gavin; her parents Frank and Clara; her brother Ron and his wife Linda and their children Kristina and Ron Jr.; as well as her other family and friends. She was a wonderful woman who touched endless people with her kindness, love, faith, generosity, sense of humor and infectious laugh. To know her was to love her and have your life greatly enriched. She will be greatly missed, but also always remembered and celebrated. Her family would like to thank the following people for their loving care of Joy during this time: Dr. Jeffrey Ye, the Oncology Department at Kaiser, Kaiser Chemo Infusion Center, Dr. Christopher Barker, Kaiser Hospital 3rd Floor W. Nursing Staff, the Emergency Department of Kaiser, Petaluma Post-Acute Rehab, and last but not least, all of our family and friends who have shown us endless amounts of love, prayers, support and friendship. We are eternally grateful. Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 4595 Snyder Ln., Rohnert Park, CA 94928. A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Seton Church.
