Joyce Fern Wasson

Joyce Fern Wasson - Joyce Fern (Halford) Wasson passed away peacefully at her home on September 25, 2011. She was 80 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband John D. Wasson. Joyce is survived by her son, David Wasson, and his children Laura and John; her daughter, Mary Blanchard, her husband John , and their children Amanda Winter and Sara Blanchard; her brothers John R. Halford and Forest E. Halford; nieces Sherri Nickles and Sue Johnson; nephews John A. Halford and Forest W. Halford.; and five great nieces and nephews. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimerâ??s Association. Services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2pm at The Quest, 1461 S. Novato Blvd, Novato. Family assisted by PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma. Joyce was born to John J. and Clara Halford in Mangum, OK, where she met her husband John during high school. She followed John through his USAF career. Longtime residents of Novato, CA, they chose Novato as their permanent home when he retired. Both were active members of First Baptist Church of Novato. Joyce was known for her hospitality and making the local airmen feel they were a part of her family. Joyceâ??s greatest hobbies were as a homemaker taking care of her husband and at every chance spoiling her grandchildren.
