June C. Whitney passed November 29th at home in Petaluma CA. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary Deiss of Petaluma and the loving wife of the late Glenn Whitney. Growing up she excelled in piano recitals, being fond of Chopin and Schubert. Early adulthood, she was employed by Petaluma Poultry Producers, Petaluma Chamber of Commerce, Kresky’s, and Bagley and Deaton’s as a secretary. During WWII, she worked sales in the handkerchief and gloves department in Macy’s New York. In 1949, she gave birth to her only child, Gary Whitney, and shortly settled in as a homemaker becoming a gourmet cook. Throughout her adult life, she enjoyed Petaluma society, always rooting for every new business as she loved everything Petaluma. Over the years, she developed a passion of perfumes studying their complex nature, collected antiques, and became a student of Krishnamurti. After the age of 91, she became an avid sports fan. At her request, there will be no services. Memorials preferred to Hospice of Petaluma.
