Katherine Charline Pelly - In Beloved Memory of our mother, Katherine Pelly who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Glendale, CA and then during the depression era of late 1920â??s, her family moved to a small ranch in Empire, CA. After many hard years of cultivating the ranch into a self-sustaining family business, they produced many varieties of peaches, grapes, prunes, plums, and almonds. In her late teens and early 20â??s, Kate earned her Bachelor degree from the University of Oregon and her Masterâ??s Degree from Columbia University, NY. She was a true renaissance woman pursuing her careers as a yoga instructor, free-lance writer and a novelist. Being an avid classical pianist, model and actress were among her many interests and accomplishments. Please join us for a memorial service held in her honor at St. Vincentâ??s Church in Petaluma at 2 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2011. Any charitable contributions to Hospice of Petaluma in her name would be greatly appreciated. Kate married jazz pianist Ralph Sutton (deceased), in 1946 and they had three sons. She is survived by their three sons, Jeffrey, Peter, (Clare) and Nicholas, (Jean) Sutton. She is also survived by her seven grand children, Nathan, Amanda, Tara, Nicole, Alexander, Spencer and Madeline and four great grandchildren, among many nieces and nephews from the Pelly lineage in the Central Valley.
