Our beloved mother, Kay Ulibarri, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 29, 2018 at the age of 88.
Born to Thomas and Cathryn Ryan, Kay lived her early life in Bristol, Pennsylvania and later, following her graduation from St. Mark’s School, she became a secretary, wife, and mother. In 1957, at the age of 28, with her family she relocated from Bristol, PA to Alameda County, CA. Kay worked at Lawrence Livermore Lab from 1959 until 1973 when she and her husband Sam moved to Petaluma. Shortly thereafter, she began working at Fireman’s Fund in Novato. Well-known among fellow secretaries and supervisors for her hard work, fast shorthand, and contagious laughter, she retired in 1994, at the age of 65.
She was pre-deceased by siblings Jean Dougherty, Michael Ryan, and Thomas Ryan and husband Samuel L. Ulibarri, a Knight and in the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus.

She reveled in her role as Grama to 19 grandchildren, and as “G-Gma” to her 8 great-grandchildren: William (Nicole) & son Spencer DeClercq; Shana (Deborah) DeClercq; Marissa (Jacob) & daughter Ariana Watkins; Brian (Emily) Robberson; Mark (Melissa) Robberson; Robert Trindle, Timothy, BJ, & Matt Lucas & daughter Aria Claire; Thea & Lizzy Trindle; Rickey Ulibarri; Michael (Ji Young) & daughters Bia Rose and Lana; David (Felicia) & children Austin and Mila; Andrew (Elvia), Amy & son Noah; Daniel, Ashley and Thomas Ulibarri.
