Katherine Rose Thompson

November 19, 1982 — January 13, 2008

Katherine Rose "Katie Rose" Thompson - Passed away suddenly, Sunday, January 13, 2008 in Santa Rosa, CA. Katie Rose was born in Petaluma on November 19, 1982. She is survived by her loving parents, Bud "Walter""" and Nora Thompson, brothers; Andy and Joe, and sister Stacey. Aunt to Colton and Hannah Hughes. Granddaughter to Grandma Memo (Molly Thompson) and Grandma Tuna (Elenore Schoen). Great granddaughter to Edith Granucci. Also survived by 24 aunts and uncles, and 29 cousins. Katie Rose survived a near- drowning accident at the age of 16 months, and lived 25 amazing years. She was and is an integral part of her large extended family. She had a great smile, but to get a laugh, you had to work. Her father was the master at getting her to laugh. Kate's favorite place to be in the entire world was in her dad's lap. That's where she was the happiest, calmest and most peaceful. No seating device or wheelchair was ever able to successfully replicate that very special place. Kate was part of many wonderful people's lives, and in their loving hands and care, she blossomed. Wherever Kate went, she was the favorite, the queen. Kate was a teacher to all she met, teaching us different methods of communication, and celebrating life in unconventional ways. In her 25 years of practicing to be the perfect princess, she developed a most effective communication style, using her smile and the way she'd move her eyebrows. This went very well with her beautiful, strawberry blonde locks, befitting of royalty. Katie Rose had a remarkable life, and now she is free of all the restraints and limitations of this world. Her spirit is free, to dance and to run, unbound by gravity. To all the people who took such wonderful care of our daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and granddaughter, we heart fully thank you. You all enriched our lives and Kate's life, in ways that can never be measured. Kate's presence and love was the point in our collective universe that connects us all. She will be missed. Please join us for a celebration of Kate's life on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.
