Kenneth Charles Begin

Our beloved Ken Begin passed away at his home in Petaluma, CA surrounded by his family at the age of 86. Ken is survived by Marjorie Norma Begin, his loving wife of 60 years and their children: Katherine (Leonardo)Osborn, Mark (Maryann)Begin, Diane Massey, Denise (Randy) Slinkard and Theresa Begin. Cherished Papa of 15 and great grandfather of 11.  Dear brother of Fred (Blanche)Begin and the late Barbara Zawyrucha, Gerald Begin and Emily Begin. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A native of New Brunswick, Canada, Ken and Marj moved to California in 1958.  He was a successful business man and a wonderful husband, father, papa, uncle, brother in law, and friend. A devout Catholic who cherished family time which included summer trips to Canada, lobster feeds, weekend camping trips, coaching Little League, BBQ’s, golfing, multiple vacations to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii and Bodega Bay - and ice cream.  Ken retired in 1992 after a 37 year career in the finance industry. He later served as Chaplain for the Petaluma Police Department and in 2000 was ordained a Deacon in the Diocese of Santa Rosa, serving St. James Catholic Parish. Friends and family say he was a man of strong values, a family leader, kind hearted, and genuinely cared about every person he met. He set the bar high in loving and living life to the fullest.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, with the Vigil Service at 7:00 PM.  Family and friends are also invited to the Funeral Mass, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church,125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma.
