Khalil Ibrahim Munayer

Khalil Ibrahim Munayer - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his Petaluma home on Friday, January 14 of congestive heart failure at the age of 74. Khalil was the kindhearted and dedicated husband to Mariam Munayer for 33 years, whom are the beloved parents of Amal (24), Ibrahim (21) and Joseph (17) Munayer. He was born in Lud, Palestine in January 1936, to Ibrahim and Amal Munayer. As the eldest son, at the age of 9, Khalil led his parents and seven siblings through the hardships of the Palestinian-Israeli War. Surviving as a refugee, he received both physical and emotional scars, which were used as the foundation in which he led his family with determination and perseverance through lifeâ??s adversities. Khalil was a loving and caring husband, father, uncle, brother and a dear friend to all who knew him. He was a devoted big brother to his remaining sisters, Adla Husary (Khader) and Suad Shami (Mitri) of Sonoma County. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and were touched by him. We are grateful to Memorial Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Service, Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Episcopal Church, 1500 E. Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM with the Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Petaluma. A celebration tribute reception will follow and will be announced. In Amman, Jordan he completed a trade degree as a mechanic and graduated at the top of his class. He had a long and successful career as a diesel mechanic in Germany. During the era of opportunity, he moved to San Francisco where he found himself successfully working and owning several grocery stores, gas stations and homes throughout the Bay Area, retiring in 2001.
