Laverne E. "Hackman" Head - Passed away peacefully at home in Petaluma, January 31, 2007, beloved wife of the late John Hackman and the late C. Glenn Head. Adored mother of Sherri Harris of Malin, OR, John D. Hackman of Rohnert Park and Susan Ann Duckett of Raleigh, NC. Loving mother-in-law of Pat Hackman and David Duckett. Cherished grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 13. Step mother of Doris Parkhouse of Tacoma, WA Sharon Inglesia of Petaluma and the late Elbert E. Head.Loving sister of Donald Fowler and his wife, Donna of Petaluma. Cousin of Susan and Sandra Peters of Petaluma. Special friend to her caregivers, Litia and Ilisabeta.
Laverne was born in Santa Rosa, reared and educated in Petaluma and attended Santa Rosa Business College. During World War II she worked for the rationing board then went to work as the first female employee at the Petaluma Post Office for 13 years. Laverne then worked for 30 years as secretary for the Butcherâ??s Union Local #115 in Petaluma and San Francisco, retiring in January 1983. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Past President of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and a member of the Office Employees Local #3.
Memorial Services were held, Saturday, February 3, 2007 at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Magnolia Ave. and Keokuk St., Petaluma. Private inurnment was at Cypress Hill Memorial Park.The family prefers memorials be made to Hospice of Petaluma or to the Diabetes Association.
