Lawrence H. Harris was born in 1949 in Minot, North Dakota. His father passed when Larry was 9 years old. His mother married Col. David Siegel and the family moved to Montgomery, Alabama where Larry graduated high school in 1967. The family then moved to San Bernardino, California where Larry attended San Bernardino Community College. After joining and serving in the Air Force 1969-1973, he graduated from Golden Gate University and became a Certified Public Accountant. Larry and his wife, Georgia and children Jeremy and Jenny settled in Rohnert Park where he opened his CPA firm in 1983.
Larry had a charisma that drew people to him and they stayed loyal for many years. He always had a joke or story ready to make sure everyone left with a smile. He had a laugh that could captivate an audience and a way to make everyone feel important. His first loves were westerns, his dogs and taxes. He was extremely dedicated to finding that “grey area” to save (or get) as much as possible from the IRS for his clients. He was the kind of man that when you called for help, he was there without a second glance. Larry was a dedicated 49er and Giants Fan. Every year on opening day they would have hotdogs at work to celebrate. He had a love for guns (maybe from his wish to be John Wayne). He attended the “One Shot Hunt Antelope Club” each September where he met his hero, Chuck Yeager. Larry also loved Labrador Retrievers of which he had three at one time, although Dakota made sure everyone knew Larry was his human first. His love of animals prompted him to donate to the SPCA.
Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Georgia, he said he always looked forward to coming home to her beautiful garden. He is also survived by his children, Jeremy Harris (Lorraine Goodsey and her family), daughter Jenny Reed, granddaughters, Alyssa and Caitlin Reed, brother Dr. Ronald Harris (Marsha), nephews David Harris, Jonathan Harris (Cecilia and their children Emily and Joseph), and niece Shana McKennies (Vance). He was loved and will be missed by many.
Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the National Diabetes Association or the Sonoma County Humane Society.
