Lawrence "Larry" Tencer

LAWRENCE "LARRY" TENCER passed away on November 3, 2017 at the age of 75 years in Petaluma.  Devoted husband of Barbara Tencer.  Cherished father of Allan Tencer (Robin) and the late David Tencer.  Beloved grandfather of Andrea Tencer Lynch, Annamarie Signe Tencer, Mikayla Eva Rose Tencer, and William Brody Palmer.  Adored great-grandfather of two.  Loving brother of Carl Tencer (Joanne).  Survived by several nieces and nephews. Larry was born in Bronx, New York, but moved with his family at the age of six to California.  The family settled in San Francisco, where his father was a baker.  In San Mateo on June 6, 1964, Larry married the love of his life, Barbara, and together they enjoyed over 53 years of marriage.  They moved to Petaluma with their two young boys in 1971.  Larry worked for Southern Pacific Railroad until he received his insurance license.  He started his insurance career with Equity Life and then moved on to Farmer's Insurance for 29 years.  It was at the age of 63 that he decided to open his own insurance brokerage in Petaluma, which is still in operation today.  Larry was a big part of the Petaluma community, at one time being on the Petaluma City Council as well as the Petaluma Planning Commission.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf at Petaluma Golf & Country Club, participating in a Leads Group, computers, and his sports car.  Above all, Larry loved his family.  He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.
