Passed away in Santa Rosa,Ca at the age of 97. Leida was born and lived most of her life in Petaluma. Daughter of Julio and Nancy Stefani she spent her youth in the family home on Wilson Street. Graduated from Petaluma High School in 1941. Worked at Ott’s Stationery and member of the Business Girls. Liked to go to dances with friends and cousins at the Russian River. She met her future husband, Joe Rupprecht at one such dance. They married in 1949 at St. Vincent Church. Has a daughter, Dolores, and son Richard and together opened the family business, Joe’s A-1 Bakery. Leida was a clerk and bookkeeper for the bakery. Leida enjoyed gardening, cooking, and watching Giant’s games on TV. She loved her zucchini and homemade “Nani’s” soup. In retirement, traveled with Joe to many WWII ship reunions throughout the U.S. and often stopped off to visit her daughter and son-in-law in San Diego. Leida was a 76 year member of the YLI, honored as a Catholic Woman of the Year, Petaluma Garden Club and served as officers in both. Survived by Dolores (Chris), Richard (Anita), three grandchildren, Rachel (Eric), Brendan (Michelle), and Olivia, and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Clayton, Emma, and Bryson. A Funeral Liturgy will be held, Thursday, April 15, 2021at 11:00 AM at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY AND CREMATORY, Petaluma. Entombment, Calvary Cemetery, Petaluma. The family prefer memorials be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma, CA 94952.
