Leland Ralph Thompson (Lee), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born in Novato, California, to Glen and Hazel Thompson, Lee was one of four children and is preceded in death by his brother, Bud (Arlene) Thompson and survived by his siblings Barbara (Don) Sparrow and Les (Kathy) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of over 55 years, Lynne (Cella) Thompson, and found loving companionship in recent years with his partner, Sue Dell'Era.
Lee was the cherished father of Deena Thompson-Stalder and Todd Thompson and a proud grandfather to Mason Stalder and Jordan Thompson. He was also a beloved brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many.
A skilled house painter by trade, Lee built a reputation for excellence with his meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship. Beyond his professional work, he was a creative spirit. He found joy in photography, stained glass art, and crafting beautiful furniture from wine barrels and whimsical birdhouses from wine corks.
Lee had a special fondness for Pinot Noir, collecting and savoring it with care. He was kind soul who was always thoughtful and hardworking, with a gentle heart and a twinkle in his eye.
He touched the lives of all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Lee will be celebrated on what would have been his 84th birthday, October 25, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Parent-Sorensen Funeral Home in Petaluma followed by a gathering at the Petaluma Woman's Club.
