Lesly Harry Meyer

Lesly Harry Meyer - Distiguished superintendent and educator Lesly H. Meyer passed away quietly at his Petaluma residence Friday, October 19, 2007. Loving and dedicated husband of Carolee Meyer. Dear brother of Robert Meyer of Healdsburg. Devoted uncle of Barbara Meyer Krause of Reno, NV and Katie Meyer of Chicago, IL and granduncle to Adam Krause of San Francisco. A native of Healdsburg, CA Mr. Meyer was educated at Geyserville public schools and received his BA degree from the University of California Berkeley and his Masters degree in School Administration from San Francisco State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 returning to Sonoma County where he worked as a winemaker, chemist and farmer in the family business and ranches. In 1948 he started his career in education as a teacher at Geyserville High School. His career spanned teaching and administration positions in Geyserville, Healdsburg, Tomales, Petaluma and the Sonoma County Office of Education. In 1959 he began his service in Petaluma and served as Superintendent of Petaluma School District from 1964 to 1980. His community services included not only involvement in his professional organizations but many civic groups.
