Lloyd Mahan passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on January 26, 2023. He was born January 4, 1947, in Webster City, Iowa to Floyd and Florence Mahan. His family moved to Petaluma when he was 4 years old. He attended Valley Vista, Petaluma Junior High and Petaluma High School. Growing up, he spent time at his father's gas stations, and it was there that his love of cars began. He bought his first fixer truck with money saved from his paper route. Cars became a passion that lasted a lifetime. He graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College and began his 42-year career with PG&E in 1968. He also spent 5 years in the Air Force reserves. In 1969 he married Diane Torliatt. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage & had 2 daughters. Lloyd loved his job at PG&E and valued all the friendships that resulted. His many positions allowed him to travel between Eureka and Bakersfield. His enthusiasm and professionalism were frequently recognized and rewarded. His last position was in the central valley where he and Diane lived while still spending much time in Petaluma. In his spare time, he enjoyed RVing, going to Maui and because of his love of classic cars, he rarely missed going to Hot August Nights. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling, working on home remodeling projects and visiting his kids in Tennessee. Lloyd was an active, happy person who enjoyed life, until Dementia changed the wonderful man he was. He is survived by his wife Diane, daughters Amy Ferrari (Pete) of Gallatin, TN and Lori Clarke (Hud) of Petaluma, grandchildren Kylie and Kelsey Ferrari and Cody and Evan Clarke. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Petaluma. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 2 at St. Vincent's Church in Petaluma at 11:00 am.
