Loretta C. Giacomini

Loretta (Nella) Giacomini, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 11, 2020. She was born July 18, 1927, in Lakeville, CA to Clelia and Lawrence Nella. The family eventually moved to Petaluma. Loretta graduated from Petaluma High School in 1947 and went to work for the Buick dealership. A young man, named Erwin Giacomini, just home from WWII, bought a car from them. Loretta processed the paperwork and this set history in motion. Loretta and Erwin wed July 4, 1949. They had a devoted and memorable marriage of 71 years. The first two years of their marriage they lived with Erwin’s mother, so they could save money to buy property and build their home. June 8, 1951, their dream came true when they moved into their beautiful new home with their new baby girl born 3 days prior. They raised 5 children in this home.

Loretta was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Five children kept her busy; however, she always found time to sew beautiful clothes for holidays and special occasions for her daughters. They received many compliments for their stylish clothes from others who were surprised to learn that Loretta had made their dresses. Loretta loved gardening as she found it very relaxing. Loretta’s husband and children will remember her for cooking the most delicious dinners and excellent pies. Loretta will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband Erwin Giacomini and their children Jeanne Giacomini (Don Pelton), Julie McGram (Dave Warner), Larry Giacomini (Sandy), Linda Schulz (Dan), Laurie Giacomini and grandchildren, Travis McGram (Jessica), Shana Nevarez, Ashley Shimizu (Jarek Romero), Whitney Wood (Cory), Jared Giacomini and great-grandchildren, Shane Nevarez, Audrianna Romero, Cadance and Easton McGram. She is also survived by her sister, Marie Gilardi. She is preceded in death by her sister, Alice Wean and brothers, Ted and Alfred Nella.
