Louise Veronica (Argiro) Canfield

Louise Canfield died peacefully at home on August 17, 2021 at the age of 103. Louise was a native of Watertown, MA, one of four daughters of Natale and Angelina (Basile) Argiro who emigrated from their native Calabria, Italy in the 1880s. Louise joined the Women’s Army Corps (WACs) in 1944, and was eventually assigned to Two Rock Ranch Station near Petaluma where she met her husband, Ken Canfield, Sr., also stationed there. They married in August, 1946 and settled in Petaluma until moving to Santa Rosa in 1977. Louise served in various positions as an office assistant for both the Dept. of the Army and the U.S. Coast Guard at Two Rock from the 1950s until her retirement in 1977.

Ken, Sr. and Louise were married 54 years until Ken died in 2000. Louise is survived by her son, Ken, Jr., five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Entombment will be private. A memorial service will be held later in the day at 2PM, Friday, August 27, at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to the American Red Cross.
