Louise A. Ayers

December 14, 1935 — August 24, 2021

Louise A. Ayers passed away on August 24, 2021 in Petaluma at the age of 85 years with her loving family by her side.

Louise was born to Dora (Pozzi) and Natale Nosecchi, Sr., on December 14, 1935, in Petaluma and was the youngest of five children.  She grew up on the ranch and attended Petaluma schools, graduating from Petaluma High School in 1954.  It was during her high school years that she met Mervyn “Merv” Ayers.  They became high school sweethearts and were married on June 1, 1957, in Petaluma.  Together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage.

Over the years, Louise worked a few different jobs, but she found she enjoyed most working as cafeteria manager for Casa Grande High School and the Petaluma City School District, retiring in 1995, after 20 years of service to the Petaluma school community.

Louise was an active member in the Petaluma community.  When her children were young, she took on leadership roles in their activities, including Girl Scouts, 4-H, and cheered at every high school sports game.  Louise was a member of the Sonoma-Marin Italian Club.  She participated in many events and organized their yearly Italian Parade in Tomales.  In 1964, she took up bowling and was a dedicated bowler.  In 1967, she established the PWBA 500 Club and held office until 2021.  As an involved member of the PHS Class of 1954, Louise organized all of her class reunions, keeping her classmates informed and connected over the decades.

Throughout the years, Louise was honored numerous times for her contributions to work and for bowling.  A few of her honors include: 1988 CSEA Employee of the Year, cafeteria division; 1972 Bowler of the Year; 2000 P.W.B.A. Hall of Fame Award; 2009-2010 USBC Senior Bowler of Year.  A lifetime of awards, plaques and trophies adorn her office walls and shelves.

Louise enjoyed playing bunco with her friends and spending time with her grandson, Dom.  Most of all, she loved traveling, first with her husband, Merv, and then with friends through the Day Tripping company.

Louise is survived by her children: Natalie Ayers Jones (Wayne) and Wade Ayers (Lillian); grandchildren: Dominic Ayers and Monique Callinan (Gary); step-grandchildren: Amber Jones and Kenneth Jones (Megan); great-grandchildren: Callie and Kylie Callinan; and numerous step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.  She also leaves behind classmates, bowling associates and friends who were all very dear to her.  She was preceded in death by her husband Merv; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Natale Nosecchi, Sr.; siblings, Natale Nosecchi Jr., Florence Grossi (Alfred), Rosaline Baxman (Richard) and Josephine Nosecchi.

At Louise’s request, private family services were held.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952 or your favorite charity in memory of Louise Ayers.
