CATTANI, LOUISE GEORGIA (nee UHLIG) - Entered into rest peacefully at home, in Santa Rosa, CA, August 20, 2013. Dearly beloved Mother-In-Law of Jonnie Cattani of Bozeman, MT and Ron Basker of San Anselmo, CA. Beloved "Cookie Grandma" of Joey and Charlie Cattani. Loving sister of Charlotte Callow of Chino, CA, and loving servant of many cats over the years, especially her beloved "Katman". Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A native of Oakley, ID, age 95 years. Louise is preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Annie (VanDyke) Uhlig, her son; Louis Joseph, daughter; Veronica Lynn and sisters; Bernice and Norene and one brother; Ed.
Born July 18, 1918 in Oakley, ID, Louise was raised on farms east of Twin Falls in Golden Valley and Kimberly. She ventured off at an early age to work in Alaska and the Seattle area, where she met the "love of her life", Naval Officer Louis J. Cattani, Sr. They were married at St. Edwards Church in Twin Falls, ID, on February 17, 1942. After the war, they settled in Harrisburg, PA. Following the birth of their daughter, Veronica, they moved to Brooklyn, NY, where their son, Louis Jr., was born. They resided there until the death of Louis, Sr. on October 13, 1970. After his passing, Louise and Louis Jr. moved to Westchester County, NY. Not feeling comfortable there, they soon moved to Ketchum, ID, to be near Louise's family. She then moved to Santa Rosa in 1972, where she remained until her passing. She "found Heaven" in Northern California. She loved exploring the countless back roads and small towns, often with her daughter Veronica and son-in-law, Ron. Louise loved the Coast, the Redwoods and the Mountains. She enjoyed the opera, ballet and museums in San Francisco. She traveled the world extensively and enjoyed cooking and consuming all kinds of exotic foods. She will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL (4321 Sonoma Highway, Santa Rosa, CA, 95409). Private inurnment; Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Louise's family will open her home for a reception immediately following the service.
