Louise Elizabeth King

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at her home in Petaluma, CA, after a short illness. She was the devoted wife of the late James King and the mother of Arnold (Dina) King, Roger (Adela) King, Dennis King, and Brian King. Loving grandmother to Courtney King, Amanda (Matthew) Williams, Max King, and Hazel King. Dear sister to the late James Rogers III, James Rogers IV, and Nancy Vierra. She is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Born to the late Ludwina (Tudy) and James Rogers, Junior, on September 16, 1936, in Ross, CA, Louise grew up on the family dairy. She attended Nicasio School and graduated from Drake High School in 1954. As a teenager, Louise worked at the Rancho House Nicasio, and in 1958 she was nominated as the Queen of Industry. Louise had a close circle of friends who knew how to have a good time, and they especially liked to socialize at deer camp. One night she and Betty Martinelli collected all the blinking construction signs from the Nicasio Dam building project. They scattered the signs across the top of the hill and went to celebrate at the camp bar. The surprised hunters woke to the flashing lights and women at their bar, that was a night to remember. Racing cars in the Powder Puff Hardtop division at the Petaluma Speedway was another of her interests, following brother Sonny’s love of racing.

Louise married James (Jim) King in 1967, and they made their family home in Petaluma. She worked for Codding Construction as a receptionist until they started their family, and she became a homemaker. She loved growing a garden and became famous for her zucchini bread. As the boys got older, Louise could be found at baseball, basketball, and football games or the local fairs in the summertime.

They enjoyed attending San Francisco Giants games as a family at Candlestick Park. When they weren’t at the park, the Giants game was on the TV. When it was football season, she rooted for the San Francisco Forty-Niners.

In 1981, Louise and Jim purchased a cabin in Truckee where they enjoyed spending time with the family. They enjoyed the different seasons and all the activities of the mountains, especially when family and friends joined. One of Louise’s goals was to have a white Christmas, which they enjoyed many times over the years.

Louise had always hoped to have a daughter. As the boys got married, she shifted her focus to hoping for a granddaughter. When the first baby arrived, she was recovering from a cold and had to wait several weeks before visiting. She was blessed with three granddaughters and one very special grandson. She loved attending their sports events and drama performances.

Louise was always up for a good party, and it was not uncommon for a gathering to spontaneously happen at the family home. An afternoon visit or drinks often turned into dinner with family and friends. Newspaper exchanges, afternoon walks, Saturday night mass, and competitive games of Train were just a few things that filled her days and made her happy.

Louise loved puzzles. She became so skilled at making puzzles that she could complete a 1,000-piece puzzle in just a few days. One year for Christmas, she received a 4,000-piece puzzle as a gift. That project took some time to complete, but once done, she had it framed, and it is proudly displayed in her home.

Louise lived a full life and touched so many near and far. She will be missed but never forgotten. The family would like to express their thanks to Charlotte for her expert and kind caregiving over the past few months.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, starting at 4:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk Street, Petaluma. Family and friends are invited to the Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty Street, Petaluma. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
