Louise Maulsby Lattimore passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on April 18, 2021. Born July 3, 1934 in Wattis, Utah. After graduating from high school, Louise earned a degree in teaching from Fresno State University and was a member of Delta Sigma Epsilon Sorority. She later earned her Masters Degree in Education at Sonoma State University. While at Fresno State she met her life-long love, Roy Lattimore and they married in January 1955. They settled in Petaluma in 1960, where they lived out the rest of their lives. A lifetime educator, Louise taught at McDowell Elementary School before landing a teaching job at Liberty School, where she taught for 25 years.
Loving servant of the Lord all of her life and devoted member of the Petaluma United Methodist Church for over 65 years where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir and sat on multiple committees. Quilting was one of her favorite activities. She was very active in the Petaluma Quilt Guild and taught many the art. She loved to cook and garden, finding great pleasure living on their small farm, raising her family.
Louise retired from teaching in 1994. In retirement, she and Roy traveled the world and enjoyed time with family and friends. Louise’s joy of life, learning and family was evident to all who knew her. Her magical smile and laugh will forever be remembered.
Louise was preceded in death by Roy (2018) after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by children Karen Ervin (Rob), Katherine Lattimore Stern (Rick) and John Lattimore (Anne). Adored by grandchildren Christopher Lattimore (Katie), Jennifer Stern (Emma), Benjamin Lattimore Stern (Joanna), Sam Ervin, Neal Ervin (Emily), Daniel Ervin (Stephanie), Amanda Spina (Michael), Audrey Christopher (Auston), Adam Ervin (Jenna), Austin and Will Lattimore. Cherished Great Grandmother to Ella, Josie, Vivian and Lucy Lattimore, Cody, Cole and Connor Ervin, Layla and Jagger Spina, Richie Martinez, Alexandra Ervin and Nina Stern.
A private family graveside ceremony will be held on April 28th. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Alzheimer’s Foundation or a charity of your choice and practice random acts of kindness.
