Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle

Luciano Anthony Sabella, at the age of 89, born in San Francisco on December 14th, 1931. Beloved husband of Toni Ann Sabella survived by four children Lisa Stauffacher, Mark Sabella, Michelle Rasteiro, Dominica Rossman and their mother Diane Sabella.

Proud Grandfather of Jordan Rasteiro, Margo Rasteiro, Skye Rossman and Elijah  Rossman.  The Proud Uncle to godson Anthony Marks, Jeffrey & Vita Marks and Kara Love, Great Uncle to Ella Love, Dominic & Nicholas Marks. Father-in-law to Helio Rasteiro, David Rossman and Mario Stauffacher.

Preceded in death by his father Angelo Scafani Sabella and mother Vita Ra Sabella and sisters Angela Sabella Marks, Rosalind Sabella Clark, Brother-in-laws Thomas  Marks and Robert Clark.

Raised in San Francisco’s (Little Italy) North Beach neighborhood. He attended school at Sarah Cooper and John Hancock Grammar Schools.  During World War II Luciano’s first job was at the A. Sabella’s Restaurant on Fishermen’s Wharf working alongside his cousin Lucien Sabella. He graduated from Marina Junior High & Galileo High School, worked at City of Paris’s credit department; delivered mail for the U.S. Post Office during holiday seasons and attended San Francisco City College.

In 1950, Luciano played professional baseball in the Far West League; drafted into the U.S. Army in December 1951 he trained with the 6th Army Infantry Division at Fort Ord, CA, transferred to the 804th Engineer Aviation Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Deployed to the Strategic Air Command Base in Greensboro, England; Served in the U.S. Army as a combat Engineer during the Korean War. Luciano served a second tour of duty as an administrative assistant to the Court Martial Officer of the Summary Court.  Honorably discharged, he returned home to a family restaurant with his father, mother, and sisters Angela & Rosalind at their famous Seafood Restaurant Sabella’s of Marin and later Sabella’s of Tiburon.

Over the next 34 years Luciano played an intricate role in running the family business, a member of the AFL-CIO International Employees & Restaurant Union for over 34 years and served as a Trustee for the Hotel & Restaurant Retirement Plan for 12 years.

In 1981, Luciano moved to Petaluma and began a new career as a Commercial Real Estate Broker for Keegan & Coppin Inc., and years later entered into a partnership with Robert Lipman and formed a Commercial Investment Firm of Sabella & Lipman’s Inc.

He later retired in Petaluma, Ca. surrounded by family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty Street, Petaluma, CA.  Private entombment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA. The family prefers donations be made to your favorite charity.
