LUCILLE DUERSON
1911-2015
"Dynamite does come in small packages!"
Longtime Sonoma Mountain resident, Lucille Duerson, died June 18, 2015 after a short stay at Memorial hospital. Lucille lived to be 103 and resided on the Mountain Ranch where she and her late husband, Cleve, began their long journey together in the 1930's.
Lucille leaves behind friends, family and a bucket full of stories, memories and laughter. She was known for her love of visiting and, of course, her pies.
A very private graveside service was held on June 26th at Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma. Following the services, those attending walked up to the shade of oak trees and enjoyed a picnic lunch which was set up on the back of a restored 1937 red Ford truck. Old milk cans filled with yellow sunflowers and purple flowers decorated the back of the truck. Memories, stories and laughter flowed as people sat around reminiscing about their friend, Lucille.
Sonoma Mountain has lost a piece of history with the passing of Lucille. She was one of a kind, generous, thoughtful and always welcoming, country hospitality at its best. Lucille will be missed but never forgotten
by all those who enjoyed her company.
