Lucille Lane

August 19, 1941 — June 13, 2009

Lucille Lane - Family, friends, and faith framed the life of Lucille Lounibos Lane, a lifelong resident of Petaluma with deep roots in the community. She passed away at home on June 13, 2009, after a five-year struggle against an aggressive breast cancer. Friends and family will remember her kind and loving demeanor, delightful sense of humor, keen intellect, and strong faith. Lucille was born on Aug. 19, 1941, the third child of Petaluma attorney Leroy Lounibos and Helen Kennedy Lounibos. After completing her formal education, she married Leo Lane of Petaluma. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last year. She was the mother of six children: Tom Lane; George Lane; Amy Lane; Katie Lane Tucker; Daniel Lane; and David Lane. George (Shari) and Katie (Matt, DVM) are the parents of Lucilleâ??s seven grandchildren. Lucille is survived by her eight brothers and sisters: Helen Abruzzini; Leroy Lounibos (Johna); Barbara Waldemar (Mike); Don Lounibos (Kaye); Joan Lounibos; Rik Lounibos (Lucinda); Bob Lounibos; and Tom Lounibos (Tracy). Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent's at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18. Friends and family may visit at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June, 17, 2009. The family is very grateful for the care received from Dr. Helen Collins, her caregiver Tarisi Tokalauvere, and Hospice of Petaluma. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in her name may do so to Birthright of Petaluma, 252 Howard St., Petaluma, CA 94952 Lucille graduated from St. Vincent's High School and Dominican College of San Rafael. She taught literature, her favorite subject, at St. Vincentâ??s Elementary School before becoming a mother and full-time homemaker. After raising her children, she was the office manager for her husband's orthodontic practice in downtown Petaluma.
