Luella Ann Hadermann

July 21, 1930 — June 4, 2021

Luella was born to Ira & Georgie Vail on July 21, 1930 and left us on June 4, 2021.  Her 90 years were filled with love, laughter, hardship and heartbreak, hard work, fun and shenanigans and close, long lasting friendships.  She was extremely proud to be a lifelong 5th generation Petaluman.  She is survived by her loving sister, Loraine “Puz” Turner, and sadly preceded by brothers Robert deNeuf (Fran), and Tom Vail and her beloved step-mother, Verna Vail.

Early and lifelong friendships were made with Gerry (Serpa) Dorsett (86 years strong), Ruth (Spencer) Colvig (dec), and partner in crime, Joanne (Jensen) Lubbers until her passing in January.  They shared many adventures and were loyal through life’s ups and downs.

Lue was proud to have been one of five academic Gold Seal Bearers in her PHS class of 1948.  Music was an integral part of her life.  She was a violinist/concert mistress and performed at many weddings and social functions with her friend, Anna May Straub, and delighted her friends and family for many years with her talent.  She also played bass drum in the marching band.

On June 5, one day after graduation, Lue married Lester Bello.  Always wanting to have children, she was the most proud and loving mother of five.  Leslie Aboudara (Tim), Lorinda Dellagana (Dale), Luanne Buchanan (Sid, dec), Vail Bello (Tonia) and Brad Bello (Tara).  Her kids loved her as fiercely as she loved them.

She considered herself blessed by two true loves, her fiancé, Dan Jamieson (dec), and husband Carl Hadermann with whom she had “a 22 year honeymoon”.  With their marriage, she became mother to Audrey (Bob) Muelrath and Carl S. (Anita) Hadermann.

Lue was a loving grandmother and co-conspirator in fun of 14.  Tim Jr. and Brent Aboudara; Joe and Jon Reed; Darlene Buchanan Curran and Bradley Buchanan; Logan & Rylee Bello;  Bradain Bello; Clinton & Jeff Forney (dec) & Andrea Proulx; Gary & Carl  P. Hadermann and their families.  Indulgent “GG” to 11.  She was “Auntie” to Terry (dec) and Mike Vail, Cassie Pierce, and Nancy Hall and to the Lubbers girls.  Cousin to Albert & Sharon Vail and numerous others in the Vail clan.  Also survived by in laws, especially Louise King, and nieces and nephews in the King family.

Lue was a hardworking, longtime employee of Petaluma High and Sonoma Joe’s Restaurant.  Lue & Carl were antique dealers and owners of Kentucky Street Antiques for several years.  She served as PTA President and Camp Fire leader at Mc Near School, was Worthy Advisor of Rainbow Girls and reveled in being “Santa” at schools, hospitals and nursing homes for many years.  A member of Beta Sigma Phi for 65+ years where she enjoyed service and social time with her cherished “sisters” who she loved deeply.  She was most pleased to have served as a Direct Care volunteer for Hospice of Petaluma.

Truly the life of the party, Lue will be greatly missed. She was a great cook and always ready to host or attend a party, organize a bus trip, go on outings with the trailer, take annual vacations at Tahoe and at Jensen’s Joint in Guernewood for 60+ years, or visit the ocean which she dearly loved.  She was “Mama Lue” to many and was always ready to lend a helping hand.  She excelled at writing words to songs to fit any occasion and performing them with the “Hats Off To You” gang, or whatever group she was with!

Special thanks to Hospice of Petaluma for their loving care, guidance and support these past six months, especially our personal angels Ramona, Erica, Ashley and Nathaniel.  In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952

A celebration of Lue’s life will be held at the Petaluma Elk’s Club on Saturday July 10, 2021. The Remembrance will begin at 12:00 PM, with a catered reception (party) following.
