Lymona Lee Lymona Lee Castleberry passed away quietly on Monday, August 28, 2017 after a very full 94 years. Loving mother of Candice Daniels, Georgia Castleberry, and the late Christopher Castleberry. Beloved grandmother of Kristi Castleberry. Cherished sister of Jacquelyn Mason and sister-in- law of Richard Castleberry and his wife Marty, Mary Lea Baker and her husband Frank, and predeceased by Iris Raney and her husband Klahr. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her beloved husband George passed away in 2010 after nearly 67 years of marriage. They fell in love on a blind date and were devoted to each other throughout their lives. Lymona was born in San Antonio, Texas and lived in many places before finally settling in Petaluma in 1964. She went back to school at Sonoma State University to become a teacher once her children were grown. She taught primary grades at Waldo Rohnert and La Fiesta for many years and was loved by all her students, parents, and colleagues. Her enthusiasm for teaching and learning and getting to know people was infectious. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the world, visiting with family and friends, and coming up with creative projects. She also gave time to various charities throughout her life, was a member of the Center for Spiritual Living in Santa Rosa, and was active in AAUW among other organizations. She was a person who loved people, and people loved her in return. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA 763-4131. Memorial contributions may be made to the Petaluma Educational Foundation in her memory.
