Lynda Dee Murnin

December 15, 1959 — March 19, 2026

Petaluma, California

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lynda Dee Murnin, on March 19, 2026. An incredibly beloved wife, mother, grammy, and dear friend who passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Lynda was born in San Jose, California on December 15, 1959 to Douglas Dorman and Dortha Carter. She spent her early years in the Bay Area before moving to Anderson, California at the age of 12. She graduated from Anderson High School and went on to attend Chico State, where she earned her degree in Liberal Studies laying the foundation for a life devoted to nurturing others.

On September 16, 1989, she married the love of her life, Mike, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. They settled in Petaluma, CA and raised their two children, Justin and Lyndsey. Their home would become a cornerstone of warmth, hospitality, and community. Lynda’s greatest joy in life was her family and friends. She was a devoted and ever-present mother, actively involved in her children’s lives—volunteering at school, cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, and participating in 4-H activities. She delighted in this time with family and always embraced opportunities to gather with loved ones.

Alongside her husband Mike, she created a homestead that was as lively as it was welcoming—a place where the door was always open, meals were shared, laughter was abundant, and evenings often ended around the campfire under the stars. For 31 years, she ran a successful in-home daycare, creating a legacy defined by love, patience, and unwavering support for countless families. Her impact spanned generations, as she recently began caring for the children of those she once nurtured as infants. The homestead she created with Mike to raise their own family, also became a place where children grew, families connected, and lifelong bonds were formed. Lynda also had a deep love for animals, welcoming many into her life over the years. She was a cowgirl at heart, cherishing her lifelong love of horses and rodeo. She rarely missed the Redding Rodeo and was especially thrilled in recent years to attend the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. She treasured time adventuring with family and friends, whether vacationing in Lake Tahoe, visiting Disneyland, or enjoying the peaceful outdoors of Ashton, Idaho.

Nothing brought her more pride than her children, their spouses, and her four cherished grandchildren. She is survived by her son Justin Murnin and wife Sabrina; daughter Lyndsey Ielmorini and husband Jake; and her grandchildren; Jack, Avery, James and Lane. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Murnin; her parents, Douglas Dorman and Dortha Carter; and her brother, Robert Dorman, her in-laws Joseph and Renee Murnin. Lynda leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and community that will live on in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
