It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of our beloved Lynne Renee (Cella) Thompson, age 77. Lynne was born on March 26, 1944, in Petaluma, California, and passed away on February 7, 2022, in Petaluma, California. Lynne attended St. Vincent's Schools in Petaluma, California. She met the love of her life, Leland Ralph Thompson, at Stump Town Days in Guerneville and thought he was cute. After two years of dating, they married on May 23, 1964, in Carson City, Nevada. On their first anniversary, they got married in the Catholic Church, which meant a lot to her. She recently loved to joke that she thought their marriage was going to make it. They have been married for 57 years.
Lynne's much loved son-in-law, Wayne Stalder, predeceased her, as well as her parents, Edmund and Stella Cella, her sister, Robin Cella, her in-laws, Glen and Hazel Thompson, and her brother-in-law and his wife, Glen "Bud" and Arlene Thompson.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Leland Ralph Thompson, who was always by her side, and their children, Deena Lee Thompson-Stalder (Wayne) and Todd Edmond Thompson (Sarah). She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Mason Stalder and Jordon Thompson; her sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Sparrow; and her brother-in-law, Lester Thompson.
Lynne, the fourth of 13 children, is also survived by her siblings, Daryl Cella (Charlene) of Benicia, California, Wanda Petersen (Charles), and Trudy Perry (James), both of Petaluma, California, Michele Reynolds (Ron) of Vacaville, California, Penelope Espino (Luis), and Wayne Cella (Denise), both of Bakersfield, California, Jeffrey Cella (Patrice) of Weed, California, Cindy Cella of Petaluma, California, Timothy Cella (Robyn) of Port Angeles, Washington, Debra Hutchinson (Harold) of Penngrove, California, and Gregory Cella (Patricia) of Petaluma, California. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and lots of cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
Lynne worked at Hillcrest Dental for 25 years, making lifetime friendships there. She also loved volunteering at COTS and especially loved working with the veterans. She always said that it was not about her, it was about COTS. Working there meant a lot to her.
Lynne was an Italian Catholic and embraced both, living her life with a tremendous amount of spiritualism and love of family. Lynne and Lee loved spending time with family and friends, sharing wine and a good meal together. She was also very blessed to have traveled to meet her Italian family in Italy. Lynne was an amazing wife, mother, Nonna, daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin. She was amazingly strong, very funny, thoughtful, sweet, caring, loving, loyal, generous, energetic, and playful. She was a great friend to everyone and will truly be missed.
