The daughter of the late J.L. Goatley and Ruth King Goatley, pioneer Petaluma farming families. Mable was the longest living resident in Chileno Valley residing on the ranch on which she was born and the ranch which is the longest continually owned family ranch in Chileno Valley, Mable passed away on May 10, 2014 at the age of 93. Reared and educated in Petaluma, she also graduated from SRJC. She worked in various offices in Petaluma until her marriage in 1957, when she became a homemaker. Mable was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. Sonnichsen in 1990. She is the loving mother of Charlie Sonnichsen and his wife, Helen of Petaluma and Ruth McClure and her husband Bob of Inverness. Cherished grandmother of Frank (Rachelle) Sonnichsen, Tom Sonnichsen, Jeannette McClure, Michelle McClure, Alyssa McClure, Mary Sonnichsen and Lizzie Sonnichsen. Great grandmother of Logan Sonnichsen.
Mable was active in the Two Rock Presbyterian Church, Rebekah Lodge #86, past president of Soroptimist, past president of the Association of Business Girls as well as a former member of the PTA and 4-H leader.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation which will be held, Friday, May 16, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. Private funeral services for the family will be held, with private interment at Two Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family prefer memorials be made to the Wilmar Fire Department, Petaluma FFA or to the Two Rock Presbyterian Church.
