Madeline Louise Hillendahl

MADELINE LOUISE HILLENDAHL passed away on February 5, 2017 in Petaluma at the age of 92 years. Devoted wife of the late David Hillendahl. Cherished mother of Lori Thornton of Tomales and David Hillendahl, Jr., of Petaluma. Beloved grandmother of Brianna Thornton, Marissa Thornton, Brandon Hillendahl, and Dawson Hillendahl. Adored great-grandmother of Paisley Silva. Predeceased by one sister and three brothers. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Madeline was born, reared and educated in Southern California. After high school, she moved to San Francisco where she worked for the phone company. It was there she met her lifelong best friend who introduced her to her future husband, David. She and David were married on September 19, 1953, and together they enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Madeline's first devotion was to her family. But, in her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, painting and sewing. She was such a talented seamstress that she made many of her children's and grandchildren's clothing. Madeline also enjoyed being a member of the Petaluma Garden Club, TOPS of Petaluma, and the Petaluma Bridge Club. She was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Madeline's caregiver, Vessie Vosaki, whom Madeline adored, for her wonderful care and devotion over the years. Friends and family are invited to attend the Visitation on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952. Interment: Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma. Visitation
